Don Armeni is noted as both the most popular Seattle boat ramp and a popular spot for ceremonies, photographers and sightseers due to the spectacular view of Seattle. Friends of Don Armeni is a group of people interested in having vehicle access to the main parking area of the Don Armeni Boat Ramp Park for personal recreation. This group respects priority use for vehicles with boat trailers during times of high interest in boating - and wants single vehicle access respected at times of low to moderate boating activity.
Friends of Don Armeni seek compromise between public interests in need of parking access along the Duwamish Head shoreline including Water Taxi commuters, boaters, other recreational users and residents.
The photo above shows single vehicles parked along the Seattle facing curb of the boat ramp parking lot. The Parks Dept. intends on prohibiting single vehicles from trailer spaces whether or not there is any need for trailer parking.
This is a view looking south along Harbor Avenue showing Water Taxi commuters vehicles occupying every space by 9:00 AM, leaving no space for recreational users.
These two photos, above, show both sides of Harbor Avenue looking north occupied, again, with primarily Water Taxi commuters - cars that remain parked from before 9 AM until commuters return from Seattle in the late afternoon. If cars are prohibited from Don Armeni there will no longer be any place to park and enjoy this public park.
